# Overview

> API reference for the Infino SDKs — Rust, Python, and Node.js. The same client connects to a local store or to Infino Cloud; only the connect target changes. For the HTTP API, see the REST API section (Infino Cloud).

Infino ships SDKs for **Rust, Python, and Node.js**. The same client connects to a local
store (`./data`, `s3://…`) or to **Infino Cloud** — only the `connect` target changes, so
one program runs against either. Each reference below is generated from the published
package, so it always matches the version you install.

> Prefer the terminal or a coding agent? The [CLI](https://infino.ai/docs/cli.md) wraps the same engine and
> connects to the same local, object-storage, and Infino Cloud targets — no code required.

## Connecting to Infino Cloud

The reference above is the whole API — the same calls run against Infino Cloud. You point
`connect` at an `https://<host>/<database>` URL and pass an API key; every table and search
call after that is identical to local use. The hosted transport is enabled slightly
differently per language:

```python Python icon="python" theme={null}
# Built in — nothing to enable.
import infino
db = infino.connect("https://api.platform.infino.ws/my-app", api_key="inf_…")
```

```typescript Node.js icon="node-js" theme={null}
// Built in — nothing to enable.
import { connect } from "@infino-ai/infino";
const db = connect("https://api.platform.infino.ws/my-app", { apiKey: "inf_…" });
```

```bash Rust icon="rust" theme={null}
# Rust opts into the hosted transport via the `remote` feature.
cargo add infino --features remote
```

The API key can be passed to `connect` or read from the `INFINO_API_KEY` environment
variable. For the full walkthrough and the credential model, see the hosted
[Quickstart](https://infino.ai/docs/cloud/quickstart.md) and [Authentication](https://infino.ai/docs/cloud/authentication.md).

## REST API

Prefer HTTP, or working in a language without an SDK? **Infino Cloud** exposes the same
per-database operations (tables, rows, search, SQL) as a REST API — see the **REST API**
section. REST is a Cloud feature: a local connection runs in-process, so it has no HTTP
surface.

The machine-readable OpenAPI 3.1 spec is served at
[`https://api.platform.infino.ws/openapi.json`](https://api.platform.infino.ws/openapi.json) —
point your code generator or client tooling at it as the source of truth.

## Local vs Cloud

The SDKs connect to both local and Infino Cloud with the same calls. For the exact list of
where the two differ — the handful of local-only and Cloud-only operations — see
[Local vs Infino Cloud](https://infino.ai/docs/api-reference/parity.md).
